At Protector we refer to maintenance projects without cathodic protection, as "passive". Cathodic protection methods which involve the installation of electrically conductive anodes are "active".
In short, a passive system is a durable, low-maintenance, synthetic or cementitious paint or wearing course which protects the concrete from hostile environments. This barrier approach can significantly reduce the influence of chlorides, the influence of carbonation (lowering of pH) or both. Several of the passive systems developed and used by Protector are a part of the Camur ZEBRA product package.
