BORI, the Housing Co-operative responsible planned the refurbishment project and appointed rebar corrosion and concrete refurbishment experts Ødegård og Lund to oversee the works. Protector AS was chosen to carry out the specialist repairs and started the works early in Spring 2008. Protector’s first task was to completely repair the existing concrete and rebar damage. Then, in order to prevent any future damage and limit degradation, we installed the Camur ZEBRA (CZ) cathodic protection system. All the intermediate deck slabs were protected with a 7 mm wearing course and linked to the Camur remote monitoring system, In this way, the conditions can be controlled and adjusted to ensure future protection, and then reported on each year. The internal columns of the car park were also repaired and treated, and the building facades were given a smart new steel finish by Protector’s tin-works team. The roof presented a new opportunity for the residents of Skårertoppen Co-operative Housing Association to have an extra space for landscaped recreation, with plants, seating areas and marked walking lanes. Protector applied our Prooff PU Decothane roofing system to transform the previous felt surface. This seamless and non - combustable system protects the building roof, prohibits leakages and represents a great foundation for the residents’ future enjoyment.
